The following images are a combination of my own drawings, magazine images and stills from the film 'Blow up' by Michaelangelo Antonioni. I created these photos by placeing the images on a light box to create an x-ray effect.
MAKE ART NOT WAR
Text on images
BARBARA KRUGER IMAGES
I created my own text on images inspired by artists like Barbara Kruger(above). I used photos I had already taken and then thought of quotes, words or expressions to put on them. I wanted some of the writing to go against what the picture was of. On other images I wanted to use quotes that fitted with image or that juxtaposed with the photo used.
Photos inspired by my trip to The design Museum
I visited The Design Museum to see an exhibition on fashion illustration. I was inspired by the use of colour and pattern to represent figures. I also liked the quick sketches of designers.
Drawing inspired by Tacita Dean
My own white on black paper drawing
Tacita Dean's work
I created my drawing using a variety materials including pencil, chalk and acrylic paint. I found it particularly inspiring working on black paper using white materials as it meant that everything had to be in negative.

New Drawing
I wanted this image to have a surreal element to it and so I worked from a photo in which I had blocked the girl's face using roses from one of my other photos. When I was working on this drawing I created quite curved shapes for the roses to make them look slightly fake and plastic. I also wanted to make the hair look glossy so I left the white of the paper to make it seem alive and realistic. I also focused on the creases of the dress as I felt this would add interest.
