Gustave Courbet

Gustave Courbet(1619-1877) Still life with Apples and a Pomegranite

I visited 'The National Gallery'  and was inspired by Gustave Courbet's apple painting, interestingly painted while he was in prison. I was interested in the dark tones of the painting and the composition of the items I took my own photos as a response and played around with composition too. In my photos I used fruit as this is one element I like in Courbet's painting. I also addeed dried flowers as I thought this would help me recapture some of the darkness and decaying nature of Courbet's image. I then created a drawing and a painting also using pastels.
